This chisel has a stiff thick blade for clearing out wood waste & has wide side edges that help keep the chisel square when working in the mortise. The mortice chisel has a leather disc shock absorber to help absorb mallet blows. The Hornbeam handle a steel ferrule around handle-endfor use with chisel mallets.
